Pirates Top The Crusaders 7-2

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Women's Tennis (4-6) traveled to Belton, TX, to take on the Crusaders of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-1). Despite just having six athletes able to participate, the Pirates rallied after losing the first doubles match. They won the next two, carrying the momentum into single's play and earning the 7-2 victory over the Crusaders. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kimberly Duncan and Sydney Wahl earned a close 8-6 win at No. 2 and Lydia Lee and Valeria Gracia took an 8-5 win at No. 3 to put the Pirates up 2-1 going into singles.
  • Daryl Locke had a resilient performance at No. 1, bouncing back after a slow start and delivering an impressive 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 win.
  • Lydia Lee was dominant at No. 3 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory, and Wahl, Gracia, and Duncan added straight-set wins at No. 4-6.

NEXT UP

The Pirates travel to San Antonio to play Washington (Mo.) on Saturday, March 30th, at 2:00 PM CDT hosted by Trinity University.
