GEORGETOWN, TEXAS —The Southwestern University women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4–3 victory over Rhodes College in SAA action, clinching a spot in the conference tournament and improving to 5–1 in league play.

At No. 1 doubles, Isa Cepeda and Daryl Locke battled through a close tiebreak to secure a 7–6 win over Rhodes. Kimberly Duncan and Addison Powell delivered a dominant 6–1 victory at No. 3 doubles to seal the point for Southwestern, while Rhodes claimed the No. 2 spot, 7–5.
Holding a 1–0 lead heading into singles play, the Pirates needed three wins to secure the match—and they delivered in clutch fashion.
Kimberly Duncan led the charge at No. 3 singles, rallying after dropping the first set to earn a three-set victory, 2–6, 6–4, 6–4. Katia Childs added an important straight-set win at No. 5 singles, defeating her opponent 6–3, 7–5. Addison Powell clinched the match for Southwestern at No. 6 singles with a strong 6–4, 6–2 performance.
