Football is returning to campus for the first time since 1950 at Southwestern University, largely thanks to generous donations of the Pirate faithful as the brand new Multi-Purpose Sports Complex continues to make progress. The facility aims to help continue the growth of our community, while creating an electric viewing atmosphere with a seating capacity of 1,620 fans. The MPSC will also feature three pavilions, holding space for special events and an intimate field level viewing experience. Southwestern will host Football & Lacrosse games, community events, graduations, intramural sports, tournaments, and more. The complex will be located on campus below the Baseball & Tennis complexes, across from Varsity Field, and just above the Track. 

The MPSC represents a lasting space for students, alumni, parents, and fans to gather, celebrate, and connect—cementing the role of athletics and school spirit in the Southwestern Experience. The stadium opener timeline remains focused on the Pirates Homecoming Football game on October 24 at noon. That means the Pirates first two home games will be played at Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex, while the final three home games will be played on campus assuming construction developments stays on course. Pirate fans, stay tuned to our social media for further updates on the stadium construction along with game tickets which will be on sale soon.

Southwestern Athletics wants to thank Cullen Trust for Higher Education, Kevin '81 and Elizabeth '84 (Lipscomb) Dice, Brent Austin, and all of our donors who made this facility possible. In July 2024, The Cullen Trust for Higher Education pledged $3 million with a challenge to the Southwestern community to match another $3 million in gifts to build the complex. The Dice family answered the call, and in recognition of their generosity, the field is named after the alumni couple. Former trustee Brent Austin generously pledged a $500,000 challenge match in honor of his wife, Joanne Powers Austin '74. We also have received some incredible, anonymous seven-figure gifts that have made this dream a reality. With support from alumni, parents, and friends, over $9.2 million in gifts and pledges has been committed.
