Southwestern tallies 8-1 victory at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday

BELTON, Texas – The Southwestern University men's tennis team increased its win streak to six matches following an 8-1 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday at the Yvonne Li Tennis Center.

The Pirates (12-5) swept all three doubles matchups, including one by default, to take an early advantage.

Will Ellis and Sam McCready tallied an 8-3 victory at the second doubles spot to put SU up 3-0.

In singles action, Haluki Nakayama clinched the contest with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at the third position.

Additionally, Alonso Fernandez rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bright Ihezue at No. 4 singles, while David Strong stepped in and collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jake Boles at the fifth spot.

Southwestern will return home to host a pair of opponents on Saturday. The Pirates will face Texas A&M-Texarkana at 9 a.m. and McMurry at 5 p.m.
