GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team turned in a strong showing at the SAA Championships, advancing to the semifinal round after a 4-1 victory over Oglethorpe University in the quarterfinals before falling to Trinity University, 4-0, to conclude the 2025-26 season.

QUARTERFINALS – Southwestern 4, Oglethorpe 1

The Pirates opened postseason play with an impressive performance against Oglethorpe, using a strong doubles showing to seize early momentum.

At No. 2 doubles, Bernie Clemente and Parth Patel secured a 6-2 win, while the No. 3 duo of Landon Sosebee and Ashton Ellis followed with a 6-3 victory to clinch the doubles point. The No. 1 match featuring Joseph Snyman and Christo Langford went unfinished with the Pirates leading 3-4.

Southwestern carried that momentum into singles play, claiming three decisive victories to secure the match. Porter Arens dominated at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Ashton Ellis added a convincing 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position. Christo Langford rounded out the scoring with a strong 6-0, 6-4 performance at No. 6 singles.

Facing a strong Trinity squad in the semifinals, the Pirates were unable to regain the momentum from their quarterfinal win. Trinity claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, while the No. 2 match featuring Clemente and Patel was left unfinished in a tight contest.

In singles play, Trinity secured straight-set victories at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 positions to clinch the match. Clemente fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, while Arens dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 2. Nolan Alvarez competed at No. 5 but came up short, 6-1, 7-5.
