GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University men's tennis team continued to showcase excellence both on the court and in the classroom this season as four Pirates were named to the 2025-2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Seniors Bernie Clemente, Ashton Ellis, and Parth Patel alongside sophomore Christo Langford earned the honor following outstanding academic and athletic performances throughout the year.
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes for their combined success in competition and in the classroom. To qualify, nominees must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore, junior, or senior academically, and compete in at least 75 percent of their institution's competitions throughout the season.
Clemente, a senior from Laredo, Texas, earned SAA Singles Player of the Week honors during the season while competing primarily at the top of the Pirate lineup. He finished the year with a 7-14 record at No. 1 singles and posted a strong 12-7 doubles record at No. 2 doubles with two unfinished matches.
Ellis, a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was named to the SAA All-Tournament Team following an impressive performance at the conference tournament. Over the course of the season, Ellis compiled a 13-8 singles record with one unfinished match while also finishing 11-8 in doubles play.
Patel, a senior from Lewis Center, Ohio, delivered one of the Pirates' most consistent performances throughout the season. He concluded the year with an outstanding 11-2 singles record alongside two unfinished matches while also going 10-5 in doubles play with two unfinished matches.
Langford, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, earned SAA First Team All-Conference honors in doubles after a standout season at the top doubles position. He was also named SAA Doubles Team of the Week twice during the year. Langford finished the season with a 3-3 singles record while compiling an impressive 11-5 mark at No. 1 doubles with two unfinished matches.
The four honorees played a key role in Southwestern's success this season while continuing to represent the Pirates with excellence academically and athletically.
