SU women's tennis survives scare for fifth

Southwestern went up 3-0 after doubles and went down to the wire to get a 5-3 win over Austin College for fifth place at the SCAC Championships. 

Kali Rose and Nicole Willson had the easiest run in doubles action, winning 8-2 at #2. Julie Swets and Emilie Moeller took down White/Ortiz in #1 doubles while Maranda Kahl and Virginia Stofer had a gutsy win at #3 doubles, winning 9-8 (7-3). 

As singles action got underway it was clear early that Austin College wouldn't go away quietly. White defeated Swets 6-3, 6-3 in #1 singles. Marieke Visser posted the fourth win for SU, taking down Kate Willis 6-3, 6-1 in #2 singles to bring Southwestern within one of the win. 

Austin College posted wins at #3 and #5 before Virginia Stofer finished off the win for Southwestern, defeating Green 6-2, 6-0. 

Southwestern ends the season at 12-7 on the year.
