BELTON, Texas - The Southwestern men's tennis team dropped their
dual match-up with the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor 7-2 on
Thursday afternoon.
The Pirates had a bumpy start to the day as the fell in all
three doubles matches. Alex Lam and Charles Prince fell 8-3 in
flight one doubles to Pownall/White, D'Art Bebel and Alexander
Reinsch were defeated by Aguirre/Graham 8-1 and Riley Bunnell and
Andrew Olsson lost to Hallum/Summers 8-5.
Lam attempted to turn things around of the Pirates as he easily
handled Aguirre in number one singles 6-2, 6-1. Reinsch was close
to following in his footsteps as he narrowly fell 6-4 in the first
set and then couldn't regain the momentum as he dropped the second
set 6-1.
Prince was defeated by Summers 6-1, 6-3 in the third flight and
Bebel had a strong rally in his match but couldn't steal the win as
he fell to White 6-4, 6-4 in the #4 slot.
Andrew Clarage took the #5 singles match-up as he dismantled
Pekar 6-4, 6-3 for the second SU victory of the day. Olsson closed
out the match at #5 singles with a loss to Graham 6-3, 6-0.
The Pirates will look to rebound with a dual meet in Abilene, TX
on Friday against McMurry University.
