PIRATES DROP HOME MATCH AGAINST MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Pirates hosted their first home meet of the season as the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor came to town on Thursday afternoon. Southwestern fell 3-6 in the dual meet to move to 1-6 on the season.

Southwestern opened up the contest with doubles action, dropping two of the three matches to start the day. D'Art Bebel and Alexander Reinsch lost to Pownall/White 8-2 in the first flight, Alex Lam and Charles Prince bested Aguirre/Graham 8-6 in the #2 slot and Andrew Olsson and Riley Bunnell fell to Summers/Hallum 8-2 in the third.

Singles matches started off strong for the Pirates as Lam took the momentum he accrued during his doubles match into his singles action, winning easily over Aguirre 6-2, 6-2. Reinsch couldn't find his rhythm as he fell 6-2, 6-0 in the second flight to Pownall.

Prince narrowly fell 6-4 in the first set of flight three action and was unable to continue to mount points, ultimately falling 6-4, 6-0 to Summers. In flight four, Bebel dropped his opening set 3-6 but rebounded to take the final two of the match, 6-3, 6-3 over White.

Andrew Clarage and Olsson fought tirelessly in their final singles matches, each forcing a third game after losing in the opening set 6-2. Clarage took the second set 5-7 over Pekar but fell 6-3 in the third while Olsson won set two 2-6 and then lost 6-0 in the third.

The Pirates stay at home this weekend as they open up SCAC conference action, hosting Trinty and Austin College on Saturday and Hendrix on Sunday.
