Five Pirates Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for Excellence in the Pool and Classroom

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – The Southwestern University men's and women's swimming & diving programs continued to demonstrate excellence in and out of the pool, as five Pirates were named to the 2025–26 CSC Academic All-District Team for their outstanding achievements in both athletics and academics.

The 2025–26 CSC Academic All-District Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined excellence in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program honors student-athletes across four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Southwestern University had five swimming & diving student-athletes earn Academic All-District recognition for the 2025–26 season, highlighting the program's continued commitment to success at the highest level both athletically and academically.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must compete in at least 90 percent of their team's competitions or be a key contributor throughout the season, while maintaining at least sophomore athletic standing. Academically, nominees must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically. Transfer student-athletes are immediately eligible provided they meet all academic and participation criteria.

Sophomore Santiago Melendez (El Paso, Texas) was a key contributor for the Pirates on the men's side, competing in the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 100-yard breaststroke while helping Southwestern to a sixth-place finish at the SAA Championships.

Sophomore Mallory DeArmond (San Antonio, Texas) continued her strong collegiate career at the SAA Championships, where she competed in the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and 400 freestyle relay.

Sophomore Anna Kate Goodson (Fredericksburg, Texas) earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor following a solid season in the pool. At the SAA Championships, she competed in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke events.

Sophomore Niva Maskey (Keller, Texas) delivered a standout performance at this year's SAA Championships, competing in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 butterfly—where she earned a podium finish with a third-place result—400 medley relay, 100 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay.

Senior Elizabeth Krajca (Bryan, Texas) capped off an impressive career by earning CSC Academic All-District honors for the third time. At this year's SAA Championships, she competed in the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle—where she claimed the individual conference championship—200 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay, helping the Pirates to a fifth-place team finish.
