Krajca Claims Conference Crown as Pirates Shine on Day Two of SAA Championships

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's swimming and diving team continued its strong showing on day two of the SAA Championships, hosted by Centre College in Danville, highlighted by the Pirates' first individual conference title of the meet, multiple championship-final appearances, and valuable relay scoring.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

  • Southwestern delivered one of the top performances of the evening in the 500 Yard Freestyle, where Elizabeth Krajca captured the conference championship. After improving on her preliminary swim, Krajca touched the wall first in 5:11.00 to claim the SAA title and earn 20 team points

  • The Pirates added depth in the event as Mallory DeArmond secured 11th overall with a B-final time of 5:17.79, while Alexis Bolte followed closely in 13th at 5:19.69.

  • In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Cece Sullivan advanced to the championship final and delivered a strong fourth-place finish in 23.87, adding 15 points to the team total.

  • Relay performances continued to bolster Southwestern's scoring efforts in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The A relay squad of Sullivan, Krajca, Niva Maskey, and DeArmond placed fifth with a time of 1:38.32, while the B relay team of Victoria Crews, Delaney Alt, Ava Goodwill, and Jaclyn Vargas finished 12th in 1:42.86

  • The Pirates also earned additional points in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, where Sarah Wallen competed in the B final and finished 16th overall with a time of 2:14.46

MEET NOTES 

  • Krajca earned Southwestern's first individual conference championship of the meet in the 500 Freestyle.
  • The Pirates recorded championship-final appearances in both the 500 Free and 50 Free.
  • Relay depth continued to contribute scoring in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
  • Southwestern sits fifth in the team standings with 150 points through Event 14.
