GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's swimming team opened competition at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Conference Championship on Wednesday evening, competing in relay events and earning key team points to begin the championship meet. After day one of four at the Southern Athletic Association Championships, the Pirates sit in fifth place overall with 66 team points. 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

• 200 Yard Medley Relay – Southwestern's A relay of Mallory DeArmond, Amber Chien, Niva Maskey, and Cece Sullivan advanced to the championship final and placed 5th overall in 1:49.49. The B relay of Victoria Crews, Sarah Wallen, Jaclyn Vargas, and Elizabeth Krajca added depth with a 13th-place finish in 1:52.17

• 800 Yard Freestyle Relay – The A relay of Elizabeth Krajca, Mallory DeArmond, Delaney Alt, and Alexis Bolte secured another championship final appearance, finishing 5th in 7:55.25. Southwestern's B relay of Chelsea Chavez, Sarah Wallen, Kylie Richeson, and Ava Goodwill placed 16th in 8:15.28 

MEET NOTES 

• The Pirates recorded two championship-final relay appearances on opening night

• Both A relays finished fifth overall, contributing significant early team points

• Relay depth provided scoring opportunities in both medley and distance freestyle events

• The Pirates will compete in day two of the championship meet with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals set to start at 6:00 p.m.
