GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Jekyll Island, Georgia from March 20–22, finishing 11th out of 30 teams in a highly competitive field. The Pirates also notched an impressive showing against the field, defeating two higher-ranked programs over the three-day tournament.
Southwestern was led by senior Ethan Bridges, who turned in an outstanding performance to finish 23rd overall at 4-under par. Bridges opened the tournament with a stellar 66 before following with rounds of 70 and 76. He was particularly dominant on par 5s, playing them at 4.33 (-8), which ranked tied for seventh in the tournament, and he paced the Pirates with 15 total birdies.
Sophomore Tyler Rosson also delivered a consistent showing, finishing in 45th place at 1-under par with rounds of 72, 72, and 71. Rosson contributed one of the team's two eagles during the event while helping anchor a balanced Pirate lineup.
Junior Ricky Mitchell finished close behind in 54th place after carding rounds of 70, 76, and 71 (+1). Mitchell added the Pirates' second eagle of the tournament, highlighting a strong collective performance on scoring opportunities.
Junior Sam McClure turned in a steady three rounds of 73, 73, and 74 (+4) to finish in 68th place, while leading the team in pars with 32 throughout the tournament. Sophomore Ethan Law rounded out the lineup with rounds of 75, 75, and 74 (+8), finishing in 95th place.
As a team, the Pirates excelled on par 5s, ranking fifth in the field at 26-under, while placing 14th on par 3s (+15) and 12th on par 4s (+19). Southwestern compiled an impressive 60 birdies, 146 pars, and two eagles over the course of the tournament.
