Pirates Dominate at Home, Sweep Schreiner University 7–0

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's tennis team hosted Schreiner University on Saturday, February 21, delivering a dominant performance as the Pirates swept the Mountaineers, 7–0, in Georgetown.

Doubles play set the tone early, as Southwestern secured all three courts to claim the opening point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Isa Cepeda and Daryl Locke earned a convincing 6–2 victory over M. Jamison and M. Griffin. The Pirates followed with another strong showing at No. 2, where Addison Powell and Kimberly Duncan battled to a 7–5 win against H. Ibarra and U. Bergeron. Lilly Perkins and Katia Childs completed the doubles sweep at No. 3 with a 6–3 victory over M. Jackson and S. Garcia.

Carrying momentum into singles play, the Pirates controlled every court and secured six straight-set victories to complete the shutout. At No. 1 singles, Locke was dominant in a 6–0, 6–0 win over Jamison. Cepeda followed with a strong performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Griffin 6–1, 6–0. Duncan added another decisive point at No. 3 singles with a 6–0, 6–0 victory over Ibarra.

Southwestern continued its steady play through the middle and lower courts. Perkins earned a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles, taking a tight first-set tiebreak before closing the match in straight sets, 7–6 (7–1), 7–1, against Bergeron. At No. 5 singles, Childs secured a 6–2, 6–2 victory over Jackson, while Powell capped the afternoon with a 6–0, 6–2 win over N. Leonard at No. 6.

The sweep highlighted Southwestern's depth across the lineup, as the Pirates did not drop a singles match while securing the doubles point early.
