GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University men's tennis team turned in a strong home performance on Saturday, February 21, defeating Schreiner University, 6–1, in nonconference action in Georgetown.
The Pirates established control early by sweeping doubles play to secure the opening point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Joseph Snyman and Porter Arenas earned a 6–4 victory over J. Solo and E. Gonzalez. The No. 2 pair of Landon Sosebee and Sebastian Herrera followed with a convincing 6–1 win against N. Reyes and A. Nadur-Torres. Southwestern completed the doubles sweep at No. 3, where Arian Patel and Nolan Alvarez defeated M. Thomas and I. Flores, 6–2.
In singles competition, the Pirates won five of six courts to seal the team victory. At No. 1 singles, Ashton Ellis delivered a dominant performance, defeating N. Reyes 6–0, 6–2. Schreiner picked up its lone point at No. 2 singles, where Christo Langford fell to N. Salas.
Southwestern quickly regained momentum across the remaining courts. Hai Vo earned a 6–2, 6–3 win over J. Soto at No. 3 singles, while Vedhanth Rajagopalan secured a 6–1, 6–0 victory against E. Gonzalez at No. 4. At No. 5 singles, Ezra Suez added another straight-set win, defeating A. Dimmich 6–1, 6–0. Rishi Rajesh capped the afternoon at No. 6 singles with a 6–4, 6–0 victory over M. Thomas.
With the win, the Pirates showcased depth throughout the lineup, sweeping doubles and controlling singles play to earn the 6–1 team victory.
