Southwestern Women Take on Trinity at Walzel Natatorium

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's swimming team hosted Trinity University on Saturday afternoon at the Walzel Natatorium, where the Pirates fell to the Tigers by a final score of 88–173.

Southwestern turned in competitive efforts throughout the meet, racing across all events and continuing to build consistency as the season progresses. The Pirates showed determination in both individual and relay events, challenging themselves against a deep and experienced Trinity lineup.

The home meet allowed Southwestern to gain valuable race experience, with several swimmers posting strong swims while continuing to develop confidence and cohesion as a unit. Despite the final score, the Pirates maintained energy and focus throughout the afternoon.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – Southwestern's A relay of DeArmond, Chien, Vargas, and Sullivan finished 3rd in 1:56.09, with the B relay also scoring 

  • 1000 Yard Freestyle – Alexis Bolte placed 3rd in 11:26.94, followed by Delaney Alt in 5th at 11:45.78 

  • 200 Yard Freestyle – Elizabeth Krajca won the event in 2:02.15, with Mallory DeArmond adding a 4th-place finish 

  • 100 Yard Backstroke – Sarah Wallen finished 3rd in 1:05.56, followed closely by Anna Kate Goodson in 4th 

  • 100 Yard Breaststroke – Amber Chien earned a victory in 1:10.40, while Elaine Bentley placed 5th

  • 200 Yard Butterfly – Chelsea Chavez finished 2nd in 2:20.90, with Jaclyn Vargas adding a scoring swim in 5th 

  • 50 Yard Freestyle – Cece Sullivan placed 3rd in 26.13, followed by Victoria Crews (4th) and Niva Maskey (5th) 

  • 100 Yard Freestyle – Sullivan finished 2nd in 56.92, while Ava Goodwill placed 3rd and Alt finished 5th 

  • 200 Yard Backstroke – DeArmond placed 3rd in 2:17.51, followed by Wallen in 5th and Goodson in 8th 

  • 200 Yard Breaststroke – Chien secured her second individual win of the meet in 2:36.74, with Bentley finishing 4th 

  • 500 Yard Freestyle – Krajca finished 3rd in 5:29.82, followed by Chavez in 4th 

  • 100 Yard Butterfly – Vargas placed 2nd in 1:02.85, followed by Crews (3rd) and Maskey (4th) 

  • 200 Yard IM – Sarah Wallen finished 3rd in 2:21.53, with Alt adding a 6th-place finish. 

  • 200 Yard Freestyle Relay – Southwestern's A relay of Sullivan, Krajca, Maskey, and Crews placed 2nd in 1:42.65, with the B relay also competing

MEET NOTES 

  • Chien recorded two individual victories in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke

  • Krajca won the 200 Freestyle and added a top-three finish in the 500 Free 

  • The Pirates placed multiple swimmers in the top five across sprint and distance events 

  • Relay depth contributed points in both medley and freestyle relays.
