Men's Tennis Has An Outstanding Showing At The UMHB Invitational

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's tennis team opened up their fall season at the UMHB Invitational in Belton, Texas. This three day tournament took place on Thursday September 18th-20th. The men had an outstanding showing, capturing multiple singles and doubles wins. It was a dominant weekend for the Pirates, underlying the team's depth and competitive edge as they continue their fall season!

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • In singles play, Nathan Qi, Porter Arens, Bernie Clemente, Arian Patel, and Vedhanth Rajagopalan went undefeated to win their respective draws. 

  • The Pirates dominated Draws B, C, and F with all-Southwestern finals. Clemente edged teammate Hai Vo in the Draw B final, while Arian Patel defeated Joseph Snyman in the Draw C final. 

  • Parth Patel also had a standout performance, winning two of his three matches, including victories over the No. 1 and No. 2 players from LeTourneau University.

  • Southwestern also excelled in doubles. Patel and Clemente captured the Draw A title, while Draw B featured yet another all-Southwestern final. The duo of Vo and Langford won draw B with a win over teammates Arens and Snyman. 

  • In Draw A, Ashton Ellis and Nolan Alvarez picked up two impressive victories, finishing with a 2–1 record.

UP NEXT

  • The Pirates close out the fall season competing at the ITA Regional Match starting on October 2nd in San Antonio, Texas.
