GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University men's swimming team opened the weekend with a decisive 126–84 dual-meet victory over Austin College on Friday evening at Hannah Natatorium. The Pirates captured nine of 13 events, fueled by dominant relay performances and multiple individual event sweeps. On Saturday, Southwestern faced Division II opponent UT Permian Basin at the City of Midland Aquatics Center, falling 178–59 in a competitive meet that featured several podium finishes and season-best times.

MEET #1 HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

• 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Talon Welch, Braxton McKinney, Tim Young, and Amani Singh opened the meet with a win in 3:45.18, posting the fastest relay time by over five seconds

• 200 Yard Freestyle – Andrew Renninger touched first in 1:49.59, leading from start to finish to secure an early Southwestern advantage

• 100 Yard Breaststroke – Sebastian Cortinas won the event in 1:02.77, followed closely by McKinney (1:04.02) and Owen Rodrigue (1:04.18) as the Pirates swept the podium

• 50 Yard Freestyle – Luke Lawhon out-touched the field to take first in 22.57, narrowly edging Austin's Kamil Murugan

• 500 Yard Freestyle – Renninger earned his second individual victory of the night, clocking 5:04.86, with Rodrigue close behind in 5:12.40 for a Southwestern 1–2 finish. 

• 200 Yard Backstroke – Welch posted a strong 2:13.29 to claim first place, continuing the Pirates' dominance in the mid-distance events

• 200 Yard IM – Tim Young took top honors with a 2:05.15, leading the race from the opening butterfly leg

• 200 Yard Freestyle Relay – The quartet of Cortinas, Rodrigue, Renninger, and Jonas Eaton closed out the meet with a commanding win in 1:29.43, sealing the team victory for Southwestern. 

MEET NOTES 

• Southwestern men swept the 100 Breaststroke and 500 Freestyle, securing key point margins

• Renninger recorded two individual wins (200 Free, 500 Free) and contributed to the winning 200 Free Relay

• Cortinas and Young each earned individual victories while also contributing critical relay legs

• Welch led both the opening and backstroke events, anchoring a balanced team effort across all strokes 

MEET #2 HIGHLIGHTS - TOP FINISHES

•  100 Yard Breaststroke – Luke Lawhon earned Southwestern's lone event win of the day, posting a 1:00.14 to edge UTPB's Nico Turner by just nine hundredths of a second

• 200 Yard Butterfly – Tim Young took first in 2:07.11, giving the Pirates their second event victory

• 200 Yard Backstroke – Andrew Renninger finished second with a 1:59.51, followed closely by teammate Owen Rodrigue in third at 2:06.76

• 200 Yard IM – Renninger added another runner-up finish, touching in 2:01.48 behind UTPB's Colin Doyle

• 50 Yard Freestyle – Braxton McKinney placed second in 22.51, with Sebastian Cortinas and Amani Singh rounding out the top five for Southwestern

• 400 Yard Freestyle Relay – The team of Renninger, Rodrigue, Lawhon, and Young closed the meet with a third-place finish in 3:15.61.
