GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University men's swimming team opened competition Wednesday night at the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Championships, earning valuable team points in relay events to begin the four-day conference meet. After the first day of competition, the Pirates sit in sixth place overall with 64 points.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

• 200 Yard Medley Relay – Southwestern's A relay of Owen Rodrigue, Luke Lawhon, Sebastian Cortinas, and Tim Young advanced to the championship final and placed 6th overall in 1:33.05. The B relay of Andrew Renninger, Braxton McKinney, Amani Singh, and Jonas Eaton finished 14th in 1:37.11

• 800 Yard Freestyle Relay – The A relay of Renninger, Rodrigue, McKinney, and Young secured a 6th-place finish in 6:59.09. Southwestern's B relay of Sam Milinski, Talon Welch, James Cosman, and Santiago Melendez placed 14th in 7:42.38.

• The Pirates earned championship-final appearances in both relay events on opening night

• Southwestern scored in both A and B relays to begin the conference meet
