WSOC Collects Four Athletes To The CSC Academic All-District List

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern Women's Soccer team earned four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Awards this week. The 2025 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Pirates recognized were senior Lauren Powell, senior Cecilia Banderob, senior Mia Reyna, and sophomore Matti Penders

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District an athlete must have these qualifications:

  • Student-Athletes are nominated by their head coach and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
  • Institutions may only nominate six athletes for CSC Academic All-District Awards in men's soccer.
  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
  • Student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games/contests.
Athletically, the four athletes played a pivotal factor in the squad making the SAA Tournament in the Pirates first season in the conference. Powell was the teams leader starting in all 19 games on defense, concluding her career with 73 starts. Banderob also excelled in her two seasons for the Pirates, starting in 18 games this year with two assists as a defender. Reyna finished her career with 47 career starts in the midfield for the Pirates with four career goals. Penders appeared in 18 games, highlighted by winning the first SAA Defender of the Week honor after scoring a goal from half field against Our Lady of the Lake.
