Southwestern Women Highlight Strong Efforts in Meet at Incarnate Word

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — Southwestern University Women's Swimming competed against Division I Incarnate Word on Friday, falling 69–212 at UIW Natatorium. The Pirates recorded 12 top-three finishes while showcasing their depth against elite competition. 

HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Niva Maskey, Amber Chien, Jaclyn Vargas, and Cece Sullivan placed third in 1:55.17, narrowly ahead of UIW's third relay. 

  • 1000 Yard Freestyle – Alexis Bolte and Delaney Alt took second and third with times of 11:41.91 and 11:52.63, respectively, scoring early points for Southwestern. 

  • 200 Yard Freestyle – Elizabeth Krajca finished second in 2:01.12, followed by Mallory DeArmond in third at 2:02.48. 

  • 100 Yard Breaststroke – Amber Chien placed third in 1:11.43, while Sarah Wallen added fourth at 1:13.32. 

  • 50 Yard Freestyle – Cece Sullivan earned third with a season-best 24.90. 

  • 100 Yard Freestyle – Sullivan returned to take second overall in 54.78, leading a 2–4–5 finish with Ava Goodwill and Victoria Crews

  • 200 Yard Breaststroke – Chien posted another strong swim, taking second in 2:36.99, while Avery Allison followed in third at 2:45.75. 

  • 500 Yard Freestyle – Krajca led the distance group with a runner-up finish in 5:31.58, followed by Chelsea Chavez in fourth. 

  • 100 Yard Butterfly – Vargas placed third with a time of 1:01.83. 

  • 200 Yard Freestyle Relay – The A team of Maskey, Sullivan, Crews, and Krajca closed the meet with a runner-up finish in 1:43.54, outpacing UIW's B relay. 

NOTES 

  • Sullivan was the top individual scorer, finishing top-three in both the 50 and 100 freestyle.

  • Krajca added a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. 

  • Chien placed top-three in both breaststroke distances. 

  • The Pirates collected 12 total podium finishes, the most of any DIII opponent facing UIW this season.

  • Southwestern will travel to Sherman, Texas to take on Austin College on Friday, November 7th.
