WSOC Records Second Straight Clean Sheet At UMHB, 0-0

9/4/2026 10:25:00 PM

BELTON, TEXAS - Southwestern University Women's Soccer refused to break defensively once again on Friday night against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in a draw, 0-0. The Pirates open the season with back-to-back scoreless draws, moving to 0-0-2.

The Southwestern defense continues to impress as the Crusaders always have talented offenses where they scored four goals against the Pirates last season. Despite 21 shots from UMHB, Southwestern held strong. Matti Penders had the lone Pirate shot in the first half (40:30). The Crusaders scored on a cross right before half before the goal was disallowed due to push in the back foul.

In the second, EJ Searfoss was magnificent seven saves. Gracie Pae recorded two shots on goal down the stretch, but the Pirates were out shot 21-4 throughout the game. The story was the Pirate defense of Addyson Luna, Maddie Holland, Montse Hernandez-Soto, and Penders who executed the game plan.

MATCH NOTES
  • All four Pirate defenders played all 90 minutes in the shutout.
  • Searfoss records her tenth career clean sheet in 20 career games.
  • Southwestern manufactured only two shots on goal as Jackie Powell searches for her 20th career goal playing 84 minutes.
  • Four Pirate freshman cracked the starting lineup tonight.
