GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Women's Soccer continues their unbeaten streak to start the season with a convincing victory over East Texas Baptist University on Sunday afternoon, 3-0. The Pirates improve to 1-0-2 allowing zero goals all week. 

The Pirates defense has put on a clinic all week, tallying their third straight clean sheet. On Sunday, the Pirate offense was also incredible with all three goals in the second half from three different Pirates. 

In the eighth minute, Raquel Alvarez-Fuentes received a pass from Kristine Garcia, turned her defender and fired a weak foot rocket into the net from 25 yards out to take an early advantage. The goal marked the first of many for the talented freshman from Austin. Garcia decided to take her own turn in the 24th minute, drilling past multiple defenders from half field and firing another deep shot from 30 yards out past the keeper. 

Only three minutes later, Head Coach Linda Hamilton relied on the bench on an extremely hot day and they delivered. Blake Goerner delivered a brilliant through ball to Ainsley VanTreek who ran past her defender and buried the third goal near post. Southwestern also dominated possession in the second half, securing the 3-0 victory over a team they tied last season, 0-0. 

MATCH NOTES

• The Pirates have gone 270 straight minutes without surrendering a goal. 
• Montse Hernandez-Sota, Matti Penders, Addyson Luna, and Maddie Holland have found chemistry on the back line giving no chances. 
• EJ Searfoss continues to control play with 11 clean sheets in 21 career starts. 
• The sophomore totaled 17 saves throughout the week.
