4/24/2026 10:41:00 PM

MOUNT BERRY, GEORGIA - Southwestern University Women's Track & Field displayed a full team effort as seven different Pirates totaled points to the team score at the SAA Outdoor Championships Day One. The Pirates finished with 30.5 points in a high-powered SAA Conference with numerous national contending athletes.

The highlight of day was the Pirates 3,000-Meter Steeplechase duo of senior Breanna Steele and freshman Addison Jackson who both earned podium finishes and most importantly 16 massive points to the team score.

Steele became the first Pirate to win an event crown in the new conference with a time of 11:14.90. In the Pirates first year in the SAA, Steele now owns an event Outdoor title and an Indoor third-place podium finish in the mile. The senior won the event by over 15 seconds and looks to continue to add to her career accolades in the 1,500-Meter event tomorrow.

Jackson continued to show she's the future and the present of this program with a third-place podium finish in the 3,000-Meter Steeplchase at 11:47.23. Jackson earns her first All-SAA accolade as third place is classified as All-SAA Honorable Mention. Steele collects All-SAA First Team.

Senior Katelin Pilarski also made noise in the 100-Meter prelims by resetting her own school record time at 12.30. Pilarski will compete for points on Saturday in the finals.
