GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University women's golf team competed this week at the West Region Invitational, with the Pirates A Team finishing fourth in the seven-team field after posting rounds of 343 and 337 for a two-round total of 680. The Pirates B Team placed fifth with scores of 368 and 338 for a combined total of 706.
Southwestern was led by freshman Anna Apisarnthanarax, who delivered a standout performance, firing rounds of 80 and 78 to finish sixth overall in the individual standings. Freshmen Addi Pierce and Emily York both finished tied for 14th place. Pierce posted rounds of 89 and 80, while York carded 84 and 85.
Junior Sydney Jackson finished tied for 18th with rounds of 82 and 88, while senior Sloane Panter placed 20th after shooting 88 and 84. Freshman Maris Harris turned in a strong second round to finish 25th with scores of 95 and 81. Freshman Avery Barnes followed in 27th place with rounds of 94 and 86.
Senior Rachel Harris placed 29th after rounds of 94 and 92, while senior Mackenzie Brown finished 30th with scores of 99 and 93. Senior Isabella Valenzuela rounded out the lineup in 32nd place after shooting 101 and 99.
As a team, the Pirates recorded 10 birdies and 116 pars over the course of the tournament. Apisarnthanarax paced the squad statistically, leading Southwestern in par-3 scoring at +2 (3.25 average), par-4 scoring at +12 (4.60 average), and par-5 scoring at even par. She also ranked second in the field in pars recorded with 21, while Maris Harris led the team with three birdies.
Southwestern will continue its postseason push at the SAA Championships.
