GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Senior Bernie Clemente delivered a standout performance for the Pirates over the weekend, going a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles play to help lead Southwestern to a pair of team victories.
Clemente opened the weekend on Friday evening against Concordia University Texas, competing at No. 5 singles. The senior controlled the match from the baseline and secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory, helping the Pirates complete a dominant sweep of the Tornados.
He followed that performance on Sunday by moving up the lineup to No. 3 singles against Hardin-Simmons University. Clemente once again delivered for the Pirates, earning a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 win as Southwestern defeated the Cowboys 6-1 to cap off the weekend.
In addition to his singles success, Clemente was equally strong in doubles competition, finishing the weekend 2-0 to contribute valuable early points in both matches.
With his undefeated weekend across singles and doubles, Clemente played a key role in helping the Pirates maintain momentum during a strong stretch of early-season competition.
