GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University men's tennis delivered a strong performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating Hardin-Simmons University 6–1 at Henderson Courts. The Pirates controlled the match from doubles play through singles competition, showcasing depth across the lineup in front of the home crowd.
Hardin-Simmons claimed the opening point at No. 1 doubles, as Payne Smith and Gabriel Harris defeated Joseph Snyman and Porter Arens, 6-2. Southwestern quickly responded on the remaining courts to secure the doubles point. Ashton Ellis and Landon Sosebee earned a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles over Maddux Foster and Kayden Lengacher, while Sebastian Herrera and Bernie Clemente dominated at No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 win against Brandon Curiel and Pedro Rozani.
The Pirates carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches. Porter Arens led the charge at No. 2 singles with a decisive 6-3, 6-4 victory, followed by Bernie Clemente's strong 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Hai Vo secured another point at No. 4 singles, battling to a 6-4, 7-5 straight-set victory.
Nolan Alvarez added to the Pirates' lead with a commanding 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles, and Vedhanth Rajagopalan closed out the scoring with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles. Hardin-Simmons earned its lone singles point at No. 1, where Payne Smith defeated Ashton Ellis, 6-4, 6-4.
With the win, Southwestern earned a convincing 6–1 team victory, continuing a strong stretch of play at home.
