GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Golf team traveled to Houston, Texas, where they competed at the Space City Classic. The Pirates captured the tournament championship after posting rounds of 283, 282, and 288 (+1) across three rounds. Southwestern edged out a strong field that included No. 17-ranked Trinity University and No. 3-ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, showcasing consistency and depth throughout the lineup.
The Pirates were led by senior Ethan Bridges, who claimed second-place medalist honors after firing rounds of 73, 70, and 67 (-3). Bridges surged up the leaderboard on the final day, jumping seven spots with his impressive closing round. Sophomore Ethan Law followed with a fourth-place finish, carding rounds of 71, 70, and 71 (-1).
Junior Sam McClure added another top-10 finish for the Pirates, placing eighth after posting rounds of 68, 71, and 75 (+1). Junior Ricky Mitchell finished 16th overall with scores of 71, 71, and 77 (+6). Sophomore William Suell turned in rounds of 78, 72, and 72 (+9) to finish 22nd, while sophomore Tyler Rosson followed in 28th place after shooting 76, 76, and 75 (+14). Rounding out the Pirates lineup was freshman Jack Barber, who carded rounds of 74, 79, and 76 (+16) to finish 33rd overall.
Statistically, Southwestern led the entire field in par-3 scoring (+12) and par-4 scoring (+14), highlighting the team's strong performance on the course's most demanding holes. The Pirates also recorded three eagles during the tournament, courtesy of Suell, Rosson, and Bridges. As a team, Southwestern totaled 46 birdies and 164 pars across the three rounds. Suell and Bridges led the field in total pars with 38 each, while Bridges also topped the leaderboard in par-3 scoring, playing those holes at a perfect even par. McClure led the Pirates in par-4 scoring, also finishing those holes at even par, and paced the team in birdies with 11.
Southwestern's balanced scoring and strong individual performances helped secure the team title, marking an impressive tournament victory against a nationally competitive field.
