GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — The Southwestern University women's swimming team earned a decisive victory over McMurry University on Saturday afternoon in a postal meet, competing from separate facilities due to inclement weather. The Pirates swam at Walzel Natatorium in Georgetown, while the Warhawks completed their events in Abilene before results were finalized.

After completing their races earlier in the day, Southwestern awaited McMurry's times before the official scoring was released. Once all results were submitted, the Pirates emerged with a commanding 169–48 win, highlighted by multiple event victories and consistent scoring across the meet.

Southwestern showcased its depth and versatility throughout the afternoon, turning in strong performances in freestyle, individual medley, and breaststroke events. The Pirates also found success in the relays, adding valuable points and reinforcing their advantage as the meet progressed.

The comprehensive team effort across all disciplines ultimately sealed the outcome, as Southwestern's top finishes and steady point accumulation proved too much for the Warhawks to overcome. The victory marks another strong showing for the Pirates as they continue their season.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS – TOP FINISHES 

• 200 Yard Medley Relay – Southwestern's A relay of DeArmond, Chien, Vargas, and Sullivan finished 1st in 1:55.46, with the B relay placing 2nd in 1:57.57

• 200 Yard Freestyle – Elizabeth Krajca won the event in 1:59.26, followed by Chelsea Chavez (2nd) and Ava Goodwill (3rd)

• 200 Yard IM – Elaine Bentley placed 1st in 2:19.44, with Mallory DeArmond finishing 2nd and Amber Chien placing 3rd

• 50 Yard Freestyle – Cece Sullivan earned the victory in 24.57, while Delaney Alt finished 2nd

• 50 Yard Breaststroke – Victoria Crews won the event with a time of 34.32

• 100 Yard Butterfly – Niva Maskey placed 1st in 1:03.13, followed closely by Sarah Wallen in 2nd and Amber Chien in 3rd

• 500 Yard Freestyle – Mallory DeArmond claimed first place in 5:24.77, with Delaney Alt finishing 2nd

• 200 Yard Freestyle Relay – Southwestern's A relay of Bentley, Chavez, Wallen, and Vargas finished 1st in 1:47.88

• 100 Yard Backstroke – Victoria Crews secured another win in 1:03.98, with Maskey placing 2nd

• 50 Yard Butterfly – Elizabeth Krajca won the event in 27.98, followed by Cece Sullivan in 2nd and Ava Goodwill in 3rd

• 100 Yard Breaststroke – Sarah Wallen earned a victory in 1:12.81, with Jaclyn Vargas finishing 2nd

• 400 Yard Freestyle Relay – Southwestern's A relay of Krajca, Maskey, DeArmond, and Sullivan placed 1st in 3:45.31, while the B relay finished 2nd

MEET NOTES 

• Krajca recorded two individual victories in the 200 Freestyle and 50 Butterfly, while adding a relay win in the 400 Free Relay

• DeArmond earned wins in the 200 Medley Relay and 500 Freestyle, along with a second-place finish in the 200 IM

• Maskey captured victories in the 100 Butterfly and contributed to multiple relay wins

• The Pirates placed multiple swimmers in the top three across sprint, IM, and distance events

• Relay depth contributed significant points in both medley and freestyle relay events.
