GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University senior Maurion Williams-Jack snatched the first 2025 edition of The Southern Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, announced on Monday morning. 

The senior leader of the defensive line made an immense impact in the Pirates 27-19 victory over McMurry University on Saturday. The night started with a strip sack by sophomore Darrell Baiye, while Williams-Jack collapsed the other side. The senior pounced on the football in the endzone for a massive defensive touchdown to start the game. The score marked his first as a Pirate playing on the defensive line. 

Williams-Jack finished with three tackles on the night as the Pirates defense got the Warhawks quarterback for four sacks. The Pirates look to keep the momentum moving hosting University of Puget Sound on Saturday at 7 p.m.
