GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Golf traveled to Howey in the Hills, Florida where they competed against multiple top 25 nationally ranked teams at the NCAA Fall Preview on September 21st-23rd. The Pirates finished the tournament 12th place, where they shot team scores of 286, 299, & 298 for a total of 883 (+23). Southwestern took down nine nationally ranked teams, four of those being ranked higher than the Pirates.
The Pirates were led by junior Sam McClure who fired rounds of 73, 71, & 70 (-1) where he finished in T11th place out of 120 players. Behind him with a T26th place finish was senior Ethan Bridges who shot rounds of 70, 75, & 74 (+4). Next in T55th place was sophomore William Suell who finished with rounds of 70, 76, & 78 (+9) after him was freshman Jack Barber who shot 73, 79, & 76 (+13) putting him in T80th place. Finishing in T102nd place and rounding out the Pirates was freshman Carson Elder with rounds of 77, 77, & 78 (+17).
Southwestern men collected a total of one hundred and seventy pars, while also collecting thirty-seven birdies. McClure led the Pirates in par 3's playing them -1 which averages out to 2.92, he was also ranked eighth in the playing field for birdies collecting 12 individually. Barber led the Pirates in pars racking up a total of thirty-eight for the tournament.Â
