The Southwestern University Pirates Softball team traveled to Abilene, Texas for their season opener versus Hardin-Simmons. In game one of the double-header, both teams remained scoreless through three innings. Hardin-Simmons built their lead to 3 when the Pirates Kathryn Dull homered in the 6th to bring in two runs. The two teams battled back and forth and in the 7th inning, Kathryn Dull flied out, bringing in Brianna Gonzales to score and even the score 5-5. Ultimately Hardin-Simmons scored in the 7th bringing the final score to 5-6. Hardin-Simmons went on to win the second game of the double-header 0-5. 

The Pirates next game is at McMurry University in Abilene at 11:00AM and 1:00PM Saturday, February 11.
