GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2026 Academic All-District selections, with five members of the Southwestern University Softball program earning recognition for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom. Sophomore Macey Gilman, junior Allie Fields, and seniors Calle Collier, Tauryn Alexander, and Kaydence Garza were all honored this season.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must compete in at least 90 percent of their institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of games played, while holding a minimum of sophomore athletic eligibility. Academically, nominees must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher as both undergraduate and graduate students (if applicable) and be at least a sophomore academically. Transfer student-athletes are immediately eligible provided they meet the academic and athletic criteria.
Sophomore first baseman Macey Gilman (Kingwood, Texas) earned the honor after putting together a strong offensive and defensive season for the Pirates. Gilman appeared in and started all 42 games this season, batting .301 with 37 hits, 14 doubles, three home runs, and 31 RBIs while posting a .488 slugging percentage and .374 on-base percentage. Defensively, she totaled 259 putouts with a .967 fielding percentage. Gilman also etched her name into the program record book after hitting two home runs in a single game.
Junior outfielder Allie Fields (Hutto, Texas) continued her standout career by earning CSC Academic All-District honors alongside SAA First Team All-Conference and SAA All-Sportsmanship Team recognition. Fields started all 42 games and helped lead the Pirates offensive with a .342 batting average while totaling 38 hits, 34 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. Her 21 steals set a new program record for most stolen bases in a single season. She also posted a .463 on-base percentage and recorded a .987 fielding percentage with just one error all year.
Senior outfielder Kaydence Garza (San Antonio, Texas) earned Academic All-District recognition after appearing and starting in 41 games for the Pirates. Garza finished the season with 14 hits, including three doubles and a triple, while adding 15 walks and four RBIs. In the field, she recorded 75 putouts and four assists while posting a .963 fielding percentage.
Senior catcher Tauryn Alexander received the honor for the first time in her career following another solid season behind the plate. Alexander played in 35 games with 28 starts, finishing the year with 19 hits, four doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBIs while recording a .315 slugging percentage.
Senior utility player Calle Collier capped off an impressive season by earning CSC Academic All-District honors in addition to SAA Second Team All-Conference recognition and SAA Athlete of the Week honors during Week 13. Collier led the Pirates with a .382 batting average and totaled 47 hits, 13 doubles, 28 runs scored, and 26 RBIs across 40 starts. She also added 11 stolen bases while posting a .504 slugging percentage and .438 on-base percentage.
The five honorees helped lead the Pirates throughout a memorable 2026 campaign, showcasing Southwestern's commitment to excellence both athletically and academically.
