Southwestern jumps into second with pair of wins

SHREVEPORT, La. - Southwestern won both games on Sunday to take the series 3-1 over Centenary College, moving into second place in the SCAC standings.

Three runs in the third and fifth innings coupled with solid defensen gave SU the win in game one. Lindsey Longuet was on the mound to earn her second shutout victory of the weekend, scattering three hits.

Kaitlynn Copher continued her hitting streak, going 3-4 with two RBIs in the game.

The Pirates posted one run in the first and never relinquished the lead in game two, stringing together a steady stream of runs to secure the win.

Longuet got the win on the mound while McKenna Zinke went 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.

After play this weekend SU moves into second place in the SCAC with an 11-3 record, 18-10 overall. They return home to face Schreiner University for a four-game series beginning at 1 pm on Friday.
