PINEVILLE, La. - The top team in the nation was more than
Southwestern could handle in their second game of the day as they
fell 10-2 to the host institution for their first loss of the
double-elimination NCAA Regional.
The Wildcats scored in all but one inning of the game,
constantly applying pressure to Southwestern, and held the Pirates
scoreless, a rarity for SU this season.
Southwestern had their chances throughout the contest but
stranded ten baserunners including having bases loaded in the third
and seventh. They posted two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a
two RBI double to right center by Bre Lewis, keeping
the Tigers from claiming the run-rule win.
SU was held to seven hits while Louisiana College recorded
twelve on the evening. Taylor Turpin and
Blair
Wallace had two hits each in the loss.
The Pirates used their entire pitching staff in the loss, but
Kara Solomon receives the loss.
With the loss SU falls to the loser's bracket and will face the
winner of UT Tyler and ETBU who will play the final game tonight.
Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
