SEWANEE, Tenn. - Southwestern University's men's lacrosse team
wrapped up their first ever year as an NCAA sponsored sport,
falling 19-6 to Sewanee on Sunday afternoon. SU ends the year at
1-11 overall and 1-3 in the SCAC.
As has been the story all season, Southwestern fell behind
early, going down 8-0 after the first quarter. After that the
offense and defense picked up but they were unable to recover from
the early goals.
Edward Williams scored two goals while Jamie Long, Elliot Kelly,
Luther Faulk and Grady Sampley had one each. Shane Carney led with
two assists on the afternoon.
Southwestern was outshot 17-54 and were beat in groundballs
16-41.
The loss marks the end of the Pirates first season and they have
a great base with which to build from in 2011.
