Five Men's Lacrosse Standouts Capture CSC Academic All-District

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Lacrosse snatched five CSC Academic All-District nods for their efforts on an off the field. The honorees were senior Jackson Strauser, senior Christian de Groot, sophomore Jeffrey Jordan, sophomore Sam Stillwell, and sophomore Dante Avicolli

The eligible award winners must be a sophomore or above student-athlete with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. 

Strauser and de Groot bought into the team culture from day one, being rewarded for this honor. Strauser finished his career as an All-Time legend at fifth in career goals scored with 109. He was the sixth Pirate who surpassed 100 career goals, highlighted by his five goal performance to send the Pirates to the SAA Tournament against Berry College this past season. de Groot found his role as a true glue guy willing to do what it takes to win. The senior midfielder graduated with a Biology degree as one of the brightest in his class. 

Stillwell emerged as an elite defender, consistently causing turnovers and switching possessions on defense. Stillwell ranked first in the SAA with 29 caused turnovers at 1.93 per game, along with 47 ground balls. Jordan also excelled in the classroom along with becoming a dangerous offensive weapon with seven goals and one assist in his first season on campus. Avicolli returned to the All-SAA list for a second straight year with an Honorable Mention. The California native finished the regular season with 157 saves, 52 ground balls, and .541 save percentage. His saves ranks fifth all-time for a single-season and currently third in save percentage for a season.
