MADERA FINISHES TIED FOR 11TH AT UMHB INVITATIONAL

Southwestern University's men's golf team finished in tenth place at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor Invitational in Temple, TX on Tuesday. The Pirates came in ninth place on the day with a combined 333 strokes and were just 12 strokes off of 9th place overall.

First-year Sean Madera led the way for the Pirates finishing in a four-way tie for 11th place. Madera shot an second round 80 to end with 159 strokes and five birdies for the tournament.

Senior Xan Erwin ended tied for 35th after improving by ten strokes over his first round. Erwin shot a 79 on Tuesday and had 20 pars over the competition to finish with 168 strokes.

Junior Ricky Jones and first-year Cody Patrick finished with 174 strokes and tied for 51st. Senior Tyler Russell rounded out the group shooting four better than day one and ended with 176 for 58th place.

Next up for the Pirate men golfer's is the Texas Lutheran Invitational in Concan, TX on March 9th and 10th.
