Pirates' Defense Key to Victory Over Schreiner

Southwestern's defense was key as the Pirates picked up their second win of the season, 58-41 over Schreiner University in the second night of the Trinity/Southwestern Classic in San Antonio, Texas.

The Pirates forced Schreiner into 23 turnovers and just 27.5% shooting from the floor (22.7% 3-point). SU was also able to hold the Mountaineers to just 10 second half points.

Southwestern was led by Junior Travis Barber who scored 15 points and pulled down 5 rebounds in only 19 minutes of play. Junior Zach Bergstrom added 10 points for the Pirates. 

The win moves the Pirates to 2-1 on the season.  Their next match-up will be a double-header with the women's team as they take on Hardin Simmons Universtiy on November 25.  The women's game will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the men following at 7:00 p.m.
