GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University coaches continue to improve in the summer whether it's recruiting, camps, film study, or different coaching ventures. Pirates Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Streich recently led the U19 USA squad to a Gold Medal at the 2026 World Maccabi Games alongside his father after taking down Israel in the final. 

The Maccabi Games take place every 4 years in Israel as a celebration of Jewish athletics and the Jewish community around the world. The Maccabi Games is the 2nd largest sporting event in the world behind The Olympics, featuring over 10,000 athletes, representing roughly 80 countries, competing across more than 42 sports.

The U19 men's competition took place from July 3rd to July 12th, including 4 round robin games followed by a semi-final and the Gold Medal Game. Streich's squad included Jewish American athletes from Austin, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and St. Louis. The coaching staff also included former Pirate Assistant Coach, Charlie Reznikoff who recently accepted a position on the DI level with University of Tennesse at Martin. Coach Streich's father, Mark Streich was also featured on the staff.
