Nowlin Earns Top Ranked National High Jump Mark At Charles Austin Classic

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Track & Field earned a strong showing at the Charles Austin Classic on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Texas State University. 

The Pirates weekend performance was highlighted by junior Lukas Nowlin's 2026 Outdoor debut. The junior currently ranks first in the nation as of Saturday night with a High Jump distance of 7.24 meters. Nowlin looks to add to his resume after placing fifth in the nation for the High Jump event at the Indoor Championships two weeks ago. 

TOP PERFORMERS
  • Senior Sebastian Loder has consistently shown to be one of the Pirates top sprinters once again this season. 
  • Loder turned in a 200-meter performance of 22.39, while also finishing the 400-meter dash at 48.73. Loder nearly broke his own 400 record of 48.49. 
  • Senior Cade Rosenquist nearly snatched the 1,500-meter record with a time of 15:34.58. 
  • Junior Sergio Cobos continues to have a breakout year as a jumper in 2026. 
  • Cobos placed sixth among stiff competition in the Triple Jump event with a distance of 13.39 meters. Cobos missed the record by only 0.16 meters. 
UP NEXT
Southwestern takes on the Texas Relays next Wednesday-Saturday. The Pirates also compete in the Trinity Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
