Pirates Shatter Two School Records In Final Meet Before SAA Indoor Championships

HOUSTON, TEXAS - Southwestern Men's Track & Field broke two school records in field events on Saturday at the FasTrak Athletix Last Chance Meet in Houston. The meet was the final tune up before the Pirates take on the SAA Indoor Championships at the end of the month. 

SCHOOL RECORDS
  • Weight Throw - Sophomore Nathan Jimmie surpassed his own school record which he broke last weekend. Jimmie launched a career-best mark of 13.23m, beating his previous record by a wide margin of 12.02m. The sophomore continues to impress and improve, geared up for the SAA Indoor Championships next. 
  • Triple Jump - Junior Sergio Cobos snaps the school record from senior Michael Roper with a big day at 13.10m. 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Junior Lukas Nowlin turned in a strong 200-meter performance at 23.08. Junior Jalen Joseph finished behind at 23.35. 
  • The distance relay squad of junior Jackson Herlin, junior Packard Smith, sophomore Leo Redding, and Nowlin finished with a time of 11:23.98. 
  • Smith also ran well in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:08.49. 
  • Nowlin placed second in the high jump at 2.00m, only 0.03m off his school record.
UP NEXT
Southwestern set their sights on the SAA Indoor Championships in Danville, Kentucky on February 27-28th.
