Women's Track & Field Competes In The War Hawk Classic

4/24/2025 9:00:00 PM

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Women's Track and Field teams traveled to Abilene, Texas where they competed in the War Hawk Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 11th & 12th. The Pirates continue to reach new heights and speeds during the 2025 season thus far.

Standout performances from the War Hawk Classic came from Myla Wolf, Katelin Pilarski, and Arden Neff. Myla, who is a long and triple jumper, stepped up and ran on the 4x100 after competing in both jumps. But the notable achievement was when asked at the last minute to run on the 4x400, stepped up and accepted the challenge even though she had not trained for it. Katelin Pilarski set a PR in the ladies 100m (12.69) and missed the school record by 0.03 seconds. Ella Lewis tied her own school record in the triple jump (11.35) and missed the school record in the long jump by 2 centimeters. Ella jumped 5.30m. Arden Neff's 400H race was beyond impressive. She has and will continue to hold herself amongst the best in the country.

Head Track & Field Coach - Kenneth Eboh had this to say post meet "What a great weekend to be a Pirate! Across the board, we had great performances. The following two weeks are about sharpening the sword as we race to the Conference Championship Meet in Sequin.'

Coach Johnny was thrilled to discuss the season thus far saying "What a difference one week makes. Last week was cold and wet and this week sunny and dry and we saw the difference in the performances. That cold and wet week helped to prepare us for this week. We saw outstanding performances and great team support all day long. This is the energy that creates champions and championship teams. Over the next two weeks, if we can train with purpose, get the treatment needed, and maintain our health, we will see even more outstanding performances at the Conference Meet."
