GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Golf competed in the Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College on March 3rd & 4th. Pirates played a 54-hole tournament where they competed in Savannah, Georgia having a 36-hole day on Monday the 3rd and following it up with another 18 holes on the 4th. The 14th ranked Pirates shot team scores of 290, 293 & 304 for this event, where they finished in 13th place out of 20 teams.Â
The Pirates were led by senior Bryce Stiemert who fired rounds of 72, 74, & 72 (+2) where he finished in 24th place. Behind him with a 30th place finish was junior Ethan Bridges who shot rounds of 77, 71, & 72 (+4). Next in 43rd place was senior Matthew Peesker who finished with rounds of 68, 73, & 81 (+6) after him was freshman William Suell who shot 75, 77, & 79 (+15) putting him in T84th place. Also finishing in T84th place and rounding out the Pirates tournament five was sophomore Ricky Mitchell with rounds of 75, 75, & 81 (+15).
Southwestern men were tied fourth in the field for par 5's playing them -4 for the tournament. They were also tied third for eagles within the tournament, collecting two thanks to Pirates Peesker & Bridges. Bridges was tied for fourth in par 5's playing them -4 for all three rounds and he was also tied eighth in pars himself with thirty-seven.Â
