GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Men's Golf competed in the Jekyll Island Invitational on March 21st, 22nd, & 23rd. The tournament consisted of 54-holes over a span of three days, meaning the Pirates played three 18-hole rounds. Out of a competitive field with thirty teams, the Pirates finished in 13th with team scores of 299, 291, & 293 totaling to a tournament score of 883.
The Pirates were led by senior Bryce Stiemert who fired rounds of 73, 72, & 72 (+1) where he finished in T22nd place. Behind him with a T38th place finish was senior Matthew Peesker who shot rounds of 73, 75, & 72 (+4). Next in T78th place was sophomore Sam McClure who finished with rounds of 79, 72, & 75 (+10) after him was freshman William Suell who shot 75, 72, & 81 (+12) putting him in T95th place. Also finishing in T104th place and rounding out the Pirates tournament five was junior Ethan Bridges with rounds of 78, 77, & 74 (+13).
Southwestern men played the pars 5's -7 for all three rounds. They were tied second for eagles within the tournament, collecting two thanks to Pirates Stiemert & Suell. McClure led the Pirates in par 3's playing them at even par. Stiemert led the Pirates throughout the tournament in par 4's also playing them at even par.Â
