Women's Swimming Wraps Up Road Trip With Meet Against Oklahoma Christian

On the second day of a back-to-back, the Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team lost to NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian by a score of 152-123.

"We did a very good job in most of our races," Head Coach Jon Duncan said. "I am very proud of how we worked together during our second day of competition on the road. We're looking forward to a solid week of practice and Incarnate Word on Friday." 

The Pirates opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, scoring a time of 1:54.11 to best Oklahoma Christian's 1:54.98. Rehgan Hartsell picked up the Pirates' first individual win in the 100-yard breaststroke, scoring a time of 1:09.96. 

Southwestern placed two of the top three finishers in the 200-yard butterfly, getting a second-place performance from Hannah Kral (2:20.86) and third from Summer Newton (2:26.53). 

Jesse Stovall picked up a pair of Pirate wins in the 50-yard freestyle, besting Jamie McGarrigle's 25.51 with a time of 25.20, and the 100-yard freestyle with a finish of 55.75. 

Hartsell picked up her second win of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke with a strong finish, scoring a 2:34.47. 

The Pirates closed the event with another relay victory, scoring a 3:44.48. 

Southwestern will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 in San Antonio for a meet with the University of the Incarnate Word at 5:00 p.m.
