Ramirez closed her collegiate career with the second highestbatting average on the season, .356, and led SU in home runs withfour. In 135 at bats she recorded 48 hits with 10 doubles and onetriple while driving in 25 runs and scoring a team-high 39 times.Ramirez also led the team in assists with 93 and was second on theteam in stolen bases with 10. She was the Offensive Player of theWeek during week seven of the season. Karen had a season-high threehits seven times this season and posted three RBIs against AustinCollege on April 12th. Ramirez was a Second TeamAll-SCAC selection, was the SCAC Character & Community honoreefor Southwestern in the spring semester and was a member of theSCAC Academic Honor Roll and named NFCA Academic All-American.Ramirez ends her career as the SU record holder for season hits (63in 2013), season at bats (159 in 2013), season runs (58 in 2013),career runs (135), doubles in a game and season (3, 24), totalbases in a season (101 in 2013), stolen bases in a game (3) andwalkes in a career (48).
2013
Ramirez started all 47 games this season and was third on theteam with a .396 batting average. She led the Pirates in hits (63)and doubles (24) and was second in homeruns with four. She drove in39 runs while scoring a team high 58 times and was fifth in thenation in doubles and 22nd in runs per game. She was also second onthe team in walks (18) and led SU in stolen bases with 13. Ramirezhad a season-high five RBIs against Marian University on March13th and went 4-4 with four runs scored on March23rd against Centenary. Ramirez earned numerousawards for her play this season including NFCA Second TeamAll-Region, Second Team All-SCAC, and was the SCACPlayer-of-the-Week during the fifth week of the season. She wasalso a member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.
