Biography

2014

Cowan was third on the team in scoring this season with 16 goals and 10 assists for 26 points. He had a season-high five points against Hope College on March 15th, scoring three goals with two assists. Cowan also gathered nine ground balls and caused three turnovers and posted a .635 shot percentage. He was the SCAC Offensive Player of the Week during week five of the season and was a First Team All-SCAC selection and was a member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll. Cowan ends his career as the record holder for most assists in a game (8) and most points in a game (12), both coming against the University of Dallas on February 19th, 2011.

Cowan was third on the team in points (28) and fourth in assists (8) and goals (20) while appearing in 14 games this season. He took 45 shots with 28 being on goal for a .622 shots on goal percentage. Cowan ended the season ranked 46th in the nation in shot percentage at 44.4%. He is the current record holder for most goals in a game (8) and points in a game (12), earning the marks against the University of Dallas on 2-19-2011. Cowan was named the SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week the fifth and seventh week of the season.

2012 (Sophomore)

Cowan appeared in 13 contests for the Pirates this season, starting in 11 games. He was third on the team in goals scored (17) and points (17). Cowan scored 5 goals on 8 shots versus University of Dallas on April 21st.

2011 (First-year)

Cowan was a permanent fixture in the Pirate offensive attack in his first season. He was fourth on the team in assists (9), fifth goals with 13 and sixth in points (22). Cowan had his best game of the year in the season opener where he scored four goals and notched eight assists against the University of Dallas.

High School

Carter earned varsity letters in both soccer and lacrosse during his high school career with the Crusaders. 

Personal

He is the son of Quint and Karen and has one sibling, Mackenzie.  Carter is majoring in computer science with a minor in business at SU.
