Kafel was a member of the Pirate soccer team.

Matt, a 2010 graduate of Marble Falls High School, earned first team All-District honors as well as academic All-District and All-State honors during his tenure as a Mustang.

Matt is the son of Michael and Cheryl and has three siblings, Steven, Beth, and Melissa.  Matt is an enviornmental studies major with an english minor at SU.
