GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern University Men's Soccer struggled to manufacture scoring efforts against LeTourneau University on Thursday, but found a way win on another gutsy effort, 1-0. The Pirates have won six straight games to improve to 6-1 overall. The six games marks the most consecutive since 2019 as no Pirate team has won seven straight since the 2001 squad won 10 in a row.
The Pirates looked to stay the course and focus game by game after receiving the highest national ranking in program history this past Tuesday at 12th in the nation. However, LeTourneau entered play with an improved squad at 4-3 looking to rain on the Pirates win streak. The Pirates were without standout freshman
Brady Faulkner following the red card last Sunday, while
Alessandro Sosa stepped in on the wing.
TJ Bass made two pivotal saves in the first half as the Yellow Jackets shockingly out shot the Pirates in the first half as both teams entered dead lock at zeros. However,
Dustin Norman's squad made adjustments at halftime as the Pirates manufactured nine shots in the second, consistently knocking on the door.
Grey Richards broke in past the defense for what seemed to be the first goal before being called offside in the 55th minute. Richards was furious receiving a yellow card.
The chances continued to pour in as the game-winner finally occurred in the 68th minute.

Landon Guenther who took a few dribbles and fired a rocket into the net from 35 yards out off the post and in. The squad erupted in another signature moment for the Pirates who continue to prove over and over that they can win in multiple different ways.
However, what makes this team so consistent is the defense who has rattled off five straight clean sheets. Another masterclass performance held the Yellow Jackets to only two shots on goal.
